OPNET Solutions adds two new Ethernet switches to its portfolio
OPNET Solutions is glad to announce two new type of devices added to its switching portfolio: the first one is the ONS-OF1548 used as network demarcation unit as well as monitoring system and the ONS-OF5376 series for Metro Network Aggregation, Data centers and Enterprise networks.
The ONS-OF1548, a low cost OpenFlow switch providing 48Gbps forwarding capability into a compact fanless design due to its low power consumption (13W), is the new entry of OPNET Solutions switching portfolio.
It has been designed essentially as network demarcation unit (NDU/NID) for large Enterprise networks as well as network monitoring system (i.e. TAP) within an SDN infrastructure; thanks to its support of OpenFlow v1.3.x ONS-OF1548 is suitable for Telcos and Service Providers SDN applications.
ONS-OF1548 provides four 1GE RJ45 network ports on client side and two 10GE SFP+ uplink network ports, configurable into 1GE mode, in order to allow a path protection. Other two RJ-45 ports (one console port and one Ethernet outband management port) are dedicated to its management.
ONS- OF1548 supports different L2 tunneling protocols like GRE, MPLS and QinQ.
The second OpenFlow switch providing 176 Gbps switching capacity is the ONS-OF5376 series. It comes in three different configurations: the 24X2C version with 24 SFP+ ports and two 100G ports, the 48T4X with 48 1000BaseT port (RJ-45) and 4 SFP+ ports and, the last one, the ONS-OF5376-48S4X with 48 SFP ports at 1G and 4 SFP+ ports.
The ONS-OF5376 series switches are high performance Ethernet switches to meet next generation Metro Aggregation, Data Center and Enterprise network requirements. The ONS- OF5376 comes with complete system software with comprehensive protocols and applications to facilitate rapid service deployment and management for L2/L3 networks. OF5376 has open API interfaces to achieve SDN.
It supports multiple software images for flexible deployment options. The flexible table management employed by ONS-OF5376 series offers multiple table size configuration profiles as optimized choices for different network scenarios.
A Complete Fault Management and Performance Guarantee
End-to-end OAM based on IEEE 802.1ag and ITU-T Y.1731 enable Ethernet service providers to monitor their services proactively, measure end-to-end performance and guarantee that the customers receive the contracted SLA. Fault management includes CCM, LTM, LBM and performance measurement includes Frame Delay, Frame Delay Variation. OF5376 series also supports single segment (link) OAM according to 802.3ah for remote management and fault indication, including remote loopback, dying gasp, and MIB parameters retrieval.
A Fault Tolerant and Energy Saving platform
The ONS- OF5376 Series supports the fans with speed control as well as power consumption adjustment, which is based on the flow status of the ports. Both can highly save the energy and go for green. A redundancy design and robust system based on hot swappable AC/DC 1+1 power modules and a real-time environment monitoring for temperature, status of fans, power etc makes this switch fault tolerant.
Comprehensive Network Security Policy
The ONS-OF5376 Series supports subscriber-level, switch-level and network-level security control. Basic IPv4/IPv6/MAC ACL is used to filter IPv4/IPv6/Non-IP packet respectively and can be applied to both port and VLAN. Besides that, extended IPv4/IPv6 ACL is also available. In a single ACL rule, both IP and MAC ACE can take effect to filter IP and Non-IP packets simultaneously. Centec ARP Inspection and IP Source Guard features prevent network from malicious ARP attack. CPU Traffic Protection, Storm Control features optimize CPU load. Centralized 802.1x authentication forbids illegal user access to the network.
